Kiwanis carries on tradition, donating to DSC student scholarships, partnering in golf tourney fundraiser

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2014) – Daytona State College welcomed a $3,500 gift on Oct. 9 from Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach in continued support of student scholarships.

Kiwanis officers Buddy Budiansky and Suzanne Steiner presented the check to Dr. Carol W. Eaton, president of Daytona State (far right), and Kay Burniston, executive director of DSC’s Foundation (far left), as pictured.

The gift supports the Daytona Beach Kiwanis Scholarship Fund, which has provided over $40,000 in scholarships to Daytona State students since 2008. The Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach is the oldest active service club in the Daytona Beach area, established in 1921.

Kiwanis also partners with Daytona State each year in a popular fundraiser golf tournament – Score One for Kids. The 40th tournament is set for Friday, April 24, 2015, at the exclusive, private Sugar Mill Golf & Country Club in New Smyrna Beach. Sign-ups will start soon; for more information, check the Score One for Kids website, email john@mfswear.com or call (386) 258-5632. Businesses or individuals also can support the fundraiser through sponsorships and donations; and door prizes are welcome.

The golf tourney proceeds stay in the Daytona Beach area and help fund various education-related programs for underprivileged children from kindergarten through high school, including scholarships to Daytona State.
